I have add the form for a student to request an appointment.  They need to provide course name, building course is in, speech length, prof. name, prof. email, and three choice for there preferred appointment time.  After submitting the form an email will automatically be sent to the speaking center with the included information.  From there the staff at the speaking center will handle actually checking for open slots in their schedule and confirm the appointment with the student.  When a consultant signs into the system, they will have an option to confirm appointments.  Here a list will be generated with all the students who have requested an appointment.  From there the consultant will be able to click on individual rows and confirm the appointment, which will include add the name of the consultant that will handle the session.  Once this is done the database will change a variable in the database to acknowledge the appointment has been confirmed and then appointment information will be available for both the student and consultant to fill out an feedback form on the session.  I’m currently working on confirming individual appointments and then will get the feedback forms up and running.

I have the user login and registration forms working for the Speaking Center. Here is the link . I have the registration set up to automatically add the user as a student into the database. The software checks to make sure that all the forms for the registration are filled out. Next the software checks to make sure that user name (network ID) is not already in the system and finally if the ID is not in the system, the software checks to ensure that the passwords provided are the same. If all the forms are filled out correctly once the user clicks the submit button an email is sent to the user’s UMW account stating that they have been added to the system. Immediately after registering, the user is able to sign into the software. After login there is not really anything for the user to do at the moment. The design of the site is also still very basic, I’m not really sure what I want the overall look to be yet.

The charger on my laptop died this weekend leaving laptop nothing more than a paper weight and I have also been fighting the flu since Friday, so my progress has been halted a bit.   I’m currently writing this from my phone, so this post may be short.

I started change the PHP files for Marcel Rotter for the software Team SmackABaby designed for him.  I’m include a storage.php file in all the PHP code so that the IT people can hopefully edit the software easier.  I’ll add more detail once my charger arrives and after check the Fedex website, should be tomorrow around 10.

I met with Esther Yook today to discuss the software for the Speaking Center. I showed her the current site for the software and discussed with her some of the changes that I felt should be made. Here is a link to the site: Speaking Center Software . If any of y’all could take a look at the current version and let me know if y’all see any problems or any suggestions you have would be appreciated. I also spoke with Yook concerning storing the database on their server rather than build it on rosemary and then transferring it over, just encase some errors arise in the transfer. There was also some doubt on whom is responsible for actually integrating the software on the actually website. Yook also informed me that Jerry Slezak is taking Jim Groom’s position and that she will email him concern building the database on the correct server and the other technical questions I had. Yook will be e-mailing me the list of employees and their availability so I can begin to set up the database for the software. While I am waiting I’ve been reading different sites on setting up some type of schedule / appointment model using Mysql, PHP and probably JavaScript. I would like the calendar to display by week and list the slots in the schedule still available for students. Yook mention that she is the the most tech savy person, so I’m trying to keep the overall user interface for the database as simple as possible while still preforming the needed functions.
On a side note I made a bet with my friend Ashely ( aka Dolly) on the Super Bowl. She was for sure the Patriots would win, but I chose the underdogs, the Giants, and in the last few minutes they pulled it off and won. So now I get to pick the prize, I’m only looking to slight humiliate her, nothing degrading or anything. So if anyone has any ideas let me know.

This chick got the lyrics from Journey tattooed on her ribs, so I can’t be too mean to her cause the tattoo is awesome.
